FIRST LET'S START BY DISCUSSING WHAT IT MEANS TO BE HEALTHY These are characteristics that evidence health: Outlooks are positive. Muscles, joints, organs, feet, hands, and head are free of pain. Sleep comes easily and energy is high. Wounds heal easily and no parts of the body are chronically inflamed. Hair and nails are glossy and strong. Skin is pliable but firm and not dry or irritated. The gut produces very little gas, doesn't rumble and empties regularly.
According to statistics from the Highland County Department of Health, we are healthier than our neighbors in other counties adjacent to us here in Ohio. According to US News and World Report, our county ranks at 41 points on the health scale while the healthiest counties in Ohio rank at above 80. So we have some work to do.
So what do we all need to do to become healthy...or healthier? Here's what's needed: Develop a healthy biome both inside and out.... by courting biodiversity Exercise daily...even if it is only for 12 minutes a day Learn about our emotional systems...what they are and how to use them Reduce stress...yes, we all have some and we can all learn to release it Eat healthy...some foods support vitality and some don't Connect to others...others can be people, pets, or any living thing as well as singing and dancing Figure out a reason to live...otherwise why struggle?
